'When she was just a girl, she expected the world.' - Coldplay
Years ago, I never would have envisioned things turning out this way. The people I'd meet, the school I'd go to, the little achievements, the person I would become. In the head of a 10-year-old Rachel, I would have been a teenager meeting all the stereotypical standards. Life would be just like the movies and TV shows. Everything would be perfect, I didn't know how, but it just would be.
So far, my definition of perfection is tarnished. Mistakes are made and the broken pieces take time to heal. Nothing is perfect, but seeing beauty in all the flaws and cracks is something I wouldn't give up for the world. Because this is reality, and no matter how high we have our head in the clouds, we will always live on. To have life all around me is such a lovely privilege. To have people who embrace me is such an honour. To take every day with an undefeated smile on your face is bravery.
I'm a very fortunate girl.

Indeed you are. Perfect lives are just a fiction. Life is wonderfully flawed, just as were are, but each scar on our hearts tells a different story, a dream, a lesson that should never be forgotten or hidden. :)
ReplyDeleteYou couldn't have phrased that more beautifully. I shall have to quote you from now on! ♡
DeleteThank you dear :)
ReplyDeleteIt's funny you say that, I've been doing my media piece on the media's representation of teenage girls and how it's completely wrong. You're you right, when I was young I thought life as a teen was going to be exactly like the movies...but it's not and maybe that's okay. *I KNOW THAT FEEL MEME* ♥ and holy cheese that is a gorgeous shot
ReplyDeleteI used to watch all kinds of movies and TV shows, and I think I've been let down haha. I know that feel Seryna, you hear me, you hear me?!
DeleteBut anyway thank you once more, I actually used my Samsung Galaxy SII to capture that :)
Such a lovely post! I think that learning from our mistakes is what makes us perfect :)
