The sunset was spent beside the river, facing the vast expanse the city. Festivities were lined up for the abundance of families. I was with a group of friends, however, and had been for the entire day. We settled for a small spot amidst the crowd. Luckily we came prepared, with sufficient food and sleeping bags. As night gradually fell, the lights grew brighter and brighter with eagerness. The breeze wasn't uninviting nor bitter; it was pretty perfect. (Much like the overall atmosphere of the entire day, might I add. The initial lot of us went ice-skating in the afternoon. Needless to say, it was incredibly fun. And I managed to not fall! It's one of those things you warm up to, especially with the right people.) We also had a chance to stargaze, but the stars were hiding. It really has become a routinely joy every time I'm out at night. After hours of song and dance, the fireworks made their appearance. It was well worth the wait, since it proved to be magical.
