To put it simply, Sunday night was comprised of three of my favourite things in the whole world: music + food + friends.
Now it's no surprise that all my friends are talented individuals. Adequately proved so in the music department, our friend invited us to a classical recital by the state youth orchestra - of which he is actively involved in. We all attended in dressy attire, showing up for moral support. I, basically being the most musically inept person possible, hadn't been to a proper classical music concert before. However, I was rather eager to delve into a new genre. (The rule that applies here: if you can't create music, just listen. Another rule: always be open to try new things! The window of opportunity awaits you.)

It was a lot more stimulating, as well as calmer, than I thought it'd be. I was able to absorb the passion derived from classical music lovers around me. Aged men tapping their toes, nodding their heads in approval. Even though I still practically remain clueless about the classical genre, I found that I quite enjoyed it. In my opinion, it felt as if each musical piece was executed with tasteful precision. You could even say I have a newfound liking towards classical music now.
The rest met up with us after the concert; we covetously made a beeline towards our designated burger place. Upon vivaciously -and successfully, may I add - finding our way there, we were all relieved to finally cure our hunger. Now, the place had me at hello. We raved on in awe at the interior decor of the place, which made for a rustic, comfortable ambience. Good vibes everywhere. Even the playlist was suited to my music tastes. (Think Atlas Genius, Passion Pit and many more.) Now if you think that had me ecstatic, you should've witnessed our satisfaction digging into our burgers.

May I just say, I love the song Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap, haha. Not that, that's relevant.
ReplyDeleteI love the sign however! About the burgers. Pretty cute.

Okay so, in all my nerdiness, I will just say that classical music was basically what I was raised on and in year 12 I had no shame being the only girl who choose classical voice instead of contemporary haha. But I mean, like you say, even if classical music isn't really your thing, orchestras are pretty freaking great. They make you appreciate it for what it is, which is a truly beautiful work of art. But you know, I am a bit biased haha. I always love being one of the youngest people at classical music performances, and giving the other few young people the look of understanding. And I laughed at the bit about old men tapping their shoes! I have observed this many time but never consciously. But yes, I will stop now. Except for saying, if you ever get a chance to see choral music performed in a venue like this, the atmosphere is even more amazing so do take it :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a very nice evening! :)
Can I just say how wonderful it is when a restaurant plays really good music? I mean, Passion Pit even!! It sounds (and looks) you had a wonderful evening with friends. And classical music concerts are epic... I love the magical vibes from orchestras.
ReplyDeleteCLASSICAL MUSIC IS EVERYTHING!!! Listening to it just calms me down tbh but since I was in the music program, I sometimes unconsciously analyse the music... bringing back many horrible music day memories. BUT WOWS, being in the state youth orchestra is amazing! I honestly look up to all those who have the talent. When I was doing music, I was a complete failure! BUT YOUR OUTFIT IS SUPER STYLISH (love the colour) + do I see you wearing the guys jacket?!
ReplyDeleteIt's always good when people in our generation discover classical music! It's good to help the legacy live on. I don't have anything in my playlist but I can't deny their calming effects either. You look fab btw! ♥
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely evening you had. :)
ReplyDeleterachel, you and your friends are so pretty what even!!! p.s. please come back to instagram bc i miss your photos hahah
ReplyDeleteI don't agree to the fact that you put up awful photos of me ????
ReplyDeleteGet with it.
ReplyDeleteGlad you picked up on that! I always include a soundtrack, fitting with each post. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's actually amazing! I have to agree though. Even though classical music isn't my thing, it's been extremely influential in my school atmosphere. I do appreciate a good orchestra every now and then. That being said, this day was one of my first proper orchestras that I attended. I will definitely take your words into heart, and leap at classical music opportunities.
ReplyDeleteI know right? I was like, 'A beautiful human being put together this playlist just for me.' Almost brought a tear to my eye haha! I sure had a good time, thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fashion praise! And it's a dress I borrowed from a friend, and contradictory to belief it is my own jacket. My style inspiration for the day was Chloe (from MMFD) and I think I served it well with a bodycon + bomber jacket. x
ReplyDeleteI agree! The show must go on, after all. Thanks Seryna xx
ReplyDeleteIt simply was. Thanks for dropping by!
ReplyDeleteAwww you, thank you munchkin. Sadly you won't see me on Instagram, ever! x
