Entertainment.

The holidays are finally here. To kick them off, I headed out with some girlfriends. Right after school we caught up over Nandos and movies. (You know the Friday drill.) We watched 22 Jump Street - I was convinced to due to rave reviews; safe to say, I am not disappointed. It was hilarious, to say the least. I laughed so darn hysterically during the sequel credits.
Saturday was spent at Alena's house, along with Cheyenne. We all rarely get the chance to meet up, so we figured a day altogether was in order. We caught up prior to trying our hand at brunch. I think we did a pretty good job. (Scrambled eggs, tea and chocolate fingers are my loves.) I had already seen Cheyenne the day before, but that didn't stop me from sparking my fiery energy. We may or may not have ended up dancing. A laughing fit was inevitable, too. Sometimes that's what you really need; a lazy day with those you love to death. See, that's the best kind of medicine when you're not whole.
Why am I feeling so? My inadequate answer: inner tension is overwhelming. I'm a certified trainwreck at times, which can get the better of me. (Time to blame the hormones.) It could all be in my head, yet I don't want to risk it. I won't drone on about that now. Better days are of the essence.

Collective birthday haul.

A belated birthday post showcasing some presents that I received for my 15th birthday.

Hey everyone! So this post is long overdue as you can tell - my birthday was almost a month ago - but nonetheless I'd like to share with you what I got for my fifteenth birthday. I'm honestly grateful for every single item that was gifted to me, and even the thought that people expressed towards this occasion of mine. A few of the items were things that I decided to buy for myself from my savings, and the others are purely from friends. (Can I just say that all you guys have fantastic taste?!)

If anyone reading this right now has given me anything, here's a massive bear hug. *Internet hug* I'm also apologetic if yours isn't in here. (School has been draining me, literally.) Even though turning fifteen isn't all that special, it was certainly the first birthday where I had received gifts from my blogger friends. I'm feeling the love.

Many of these gifts are considered treasure to me. What was the most memorable gift you've ever gotten?

An eye for an eye.

Featured above is the beaded evil eye necklace I received in the mail recently. (Reminds me of Sreya, hint hint.) I've been fairly excited to get this, as I'm always on the hunt for quirky jewellery pieces. Some may think it's a tad creepy but I personally like it. The detailing is amazingly intricate, and how you can not love that shade of blue?! For $2.14, it's a difficult offer to pass up.

Of course, I did my research as to what the evil eye was symbolistic of, and it is basically and there are many reasons why it should not just be worn for fashion purposes. According to the eBay page of Evil Eye Beads and Jewelry - History, Meaning, and Lore, the blue evil eye symbol is 'symbolic of water and prosperity'. The main idea is to ward off bad luck that may befall upon you. They say that any well intention may have potential evil attached, so wearing an evil eye yourself will reflect the spirits away from the bearer of the necklace. In short, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Though I'm not going to lie, I bought this because I think it looks fantastic. Yet there's a nice thought of knowing the true meaning behind it. I'd rather not get caught up in sheer materialism, as what I wear is a clear expression of myself.

As they say, you learn something new every day. Oh, and Happy Friday guys!

P.S. To the anon who sent me a request on Ask.fm, I will be tending to that on the weekend. Thank you, you're such a dear.

Let it all out.

Finally saw Melissa for the first time in months! We just chilled at the park with some takeaway. Things were all lovely until a bird decided to make me its target for the moment of excretion. It was pretty nasty, but I shook the ordeal off. Apparently, it's good luck when that happens. Let's see what kind of fortune is coming my way hahah!

From browsing through the racks of Cotton On, I ended up with a lightweight tank for $10. We decided to pick up two bottles of water as well, after the cashier told us that proceeds go to charity. I thought, why not! The bottles came chilled, and with 600ml for $2, that's surely value. I loved the motto that was imprinted on the label. 'It's the little things that make the difference.' Well said.

Walking home in the heat was bearable, to say the least. The Aussie heat has consumed me once more - something I don't miss too much. Retreating inside was a wise decision. Melissa spotted my guitar in the corner of my living room, and she had to grab it. She tuned it, though not completely because I was lazy to go further with the whole thing. Oh, everyone's incredibly musical. I'm happy the way I am; trying guitar someday would be nice though.
In lieu with Chinese New Year, my Mum's spruced up the place with related adornments. The concept of white and green makes for a relaxing atmosphere. Hints of red spring from every corner, which reminds of the occasion. I personally don't celebrate Chinese New Year, as I'm not a particularly cultural being.

Ah who could forget the food! We gobbled down sparing amounts of beef brisket stew, prawns, tofu, paper-wrapped chicken, pork with mushrooms and a special salad. Adding the ingredients was the first part, and then we gathered around the table to toss it. It was all for prosperity and well wishes, as I was told. It's interesting alright. My Mum and I, with ravenous appetites, were having seconds whilst everyone started on dessert. I got to it, syrup containing longans and nata de coco. I spent the next few hours watching Alice in Wonderland with the coolest ten-year-old boy. He knew every top hit off the radio, and surely knew more than I did when I was that age. He seems like my kind of person, I can imagine if he turned out like me. Another great individual to accompany me was Aaron. He's my brother's friend, and an ideal one at that. Despite not knowing him well, I poured my heart out to him. I do trust him 100%, believe it or not. He's generously given me advice about my troubles, and made my night. I'd love to meet him, actually!
Here, I leave you with a typical photo. Possessing a professional camera doesn't make you a photographer, as I prove here. I didn't get any shots of my outfit so here's a peek. Just a deep purple crop top for the daytime, paired with distressed shorts. Practical was the way to go.

I still have a tiresome load of work to get to tomorrow. Oh well. Cheers to the weekend, everyone!
